Supreme Court Case
In the city of Ladue prohibits homeowners displaying signs except for "for sale" signs and signs of warning. A person named Margret P. Gilleo posted a sign that said " Say No to War in the Persian Gulf, Call Congress Now." on December 8, 1990. After the signs were mysteriously disappearing she reported it to the police but they told her that signs were prohibited in Ladue. The Ladue sign law violated the First Amendment- the right of speech. She later posted another sign saying "For Peace in the Gulf." The city has asked her to remove her signs. The court let her keep the signs up because of the freedom of free speech.
